Here in Heaven romantic?!!! Are you kidding? It's about an idiot whose girlfriend gets rid of him by convincing him to jump first and then leaves him dead.
Slowboat is a good one, though -- I'll go with that. |

The Louvre has to be the most (bittersweet) romantic song ...a poor museum item who only comes alive at night as does his love after the tourists have left...but come the dawn and she leaves him and he turns back into marble...albeit marble with a broken heart...and he lives this heartbreak every dusk till dawn..now how poingant is that??? |

Continuing Alexs' art theme, I have to throw in a vote for "Drawn By Picasso" - what lyrics!! _________________ You see a peanut, and the day's off to a good start. You witness some soil, and it's a jamboree..... |

Aaaaah, how sweet of you! :-D
Mine would have to be:
1) Let's Make Love
2) I Want To Hold Your Hand
3) You Got A Hold Of My Heart
4) Slowboat
5) Rosebud
They were never a band that liked the 'teen' themes of unrequited love, but having said that I like virtually all of the "Interior Design" album. I can't understand why it's been given such a bad rap.
Songs like "Marry Me", "I Married A Martian" and "I Married Myself" seem to give them a cynical view of the whole sacrament of matrimony.
I'd be a bit worried if artists like Michael Buble, George Michael, and Tom Jones were to start crooning their love songs (although I think the old Welsh hipshaker could do a mean versh of 'Rosebud').

I don't think Marry Me is a cynical view of matrimony..more of a cliche'd view.
I've often wondered about the lyrics...IMO they seem to tell about some young fellow-me-lad falling in love with a lady who entertains other gentlemen(mayhaps as a fan dancer??),and tries to woo her by offering said cliche's of a "happily ever after". |

How could it not be "With All My Might" ?
OT
I love "Slow Boat". I was at a show in the states in the late 70's and yelled "SLOW BOAT" during a lull. The re-action from Ron and Russell was unmistakable (Not to mention the reaction from those around me). They didn't play the song so Slow Boat is second best. lol. |

Slowboat is a beautiful song. Who could fail to be moved by it. Russell sings it so magnificantly. (As he does with every song). _________________ Carol wears Cacheral..... |

I loved a quote(can't recall if it was Ron or Russ)at the time of the album's release...it was saying how a couple of frisky youngsters sneaked off for a bit of how's yer father(I'm paraphrasing BTW) under the table while the other diners carried on unaware...the quote was,"Its a sort of 'Let Them Eat Cake' scenario!" |

Oh, it was such a relief to read your posts, folks! I've always thought of this song the same way, but reading this topic, I thought maybe I've gone mad? :D Well now at least I see I'm not the only loonatic here! :D
As for me, I'd choose Tearing The Place Apart. I absolutely love the lyrics - witty, ironic and touching at the same time. What a combination!

Just one more thought about Here In Heaven that crossed my mind.
I’ve been wondering – how come that the guy from the song got to heaven? A siucide should’ve gone to hell! Oh lucky guy! ;) |
