I've seen it as 'Sparks' and 'The Sparks'. Which do you say? _________________ German: Will you stop talking about the war!

PINEAPPLE95,its definately SPARKS,the germans put THE SPARKS because they need something in front of the word for some reason,so blame the germans,we always do. _________________ WRITTEN OF COURSE BY THE MIGHTIEST HAND |

i watched a program on satelite tv from germany when they were doing the gs & sv promotion and the german presenter asked ron & russ is it sparks or the sparks? and Russell really stressed that it wasnt THE in front,i think it may be to do with language barriers though Corina so dont worry about it The Corina! lol

I don't really understand this poll. I call them Sparks cause that's what they are called. Language differences aside I think most Sparks fans have come across English and/or American usage of the name so it seems more a habit to call them The Sparks than an actual misinterpreation. 'The Sparks' totally changes the meaning and sense of the band's name. Suddenly they are a 'thing', like The Doors, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones etc. 'Sparks' is far far far better, more equivocal and amorphous...
I wonder what 'other' name you could call them 'The Greatest Band in the World'? Actually, a friend of mine did refer to them as 'The Russells' when he was intoxicated. I found this endlessly amusing. I still do. _________________

.. or the brothers
.. or R&R
there are quite a few but what it says on the album cover must be it.
The Sparks, i found out on the internet is a Dutch band from the sixties. They might have been around longer than our favourite boys. They still perform.
Anyway it also says so in the lefthand topcorner and twice more on the right. _________________ "Somebody's been putting pineapple juice in my pineapple juice!"

It would be a tiny bit cool if they'd kept it... Although it reeks of rip-off.
Thankfully, no one has answered 'Other' yet...
On the other hand, that could be interesting. _________________ Not so suave.

Yeah, the Bailey Brothers could sue them.

Having followed that link, I then found The Sparks: Beat The Clock, Live DVD, which makes you wonder whether R&R have any control over their back catalogue! _________________ Gonna hang myself from my family tree. |

Yeah, it looks indeed like a pirated packaging. It's on Amazon - compare the DVD release date on amazon.co.uk and amazon.com - the latter is from Jan 2008! _________________ Entertainment or art - one should know from the start |

Yeah, I even have a Sparks 12" record from an illustrious label called 'Magic', Music That You Can Dance To, that calls the band 'Sparks' on the cover and then 'The Sparks' on the actual record label. Doesn't stop it being completely wrong though _________________

The Sparks: Beat The Clock, Live DVD
I'm pretty sure I saw this DVD last Christmas in a temporary shop that only exists during the festive season, selling off old stock of CD, VHS and a few DVD. I remember thinking it was really bad that it had a picture of the 70s band on the cover but the tracklisting was from the Balls tour. I already have the Live in London DVD, so there didn't seem much point in buying, although it was only £5. _________________ Gonna hang myself from my family tree. |
