Yes, I did them all too - didn't miss a single minute. And I avoided the Sparks flu, but spent a fortune on travelcards.
My gig withdrawal symptoms are such that I'm off to see Yazoo on Wednesday... |

After the first couple of shows, I realised that if I caught the 19:56 train I could get to the venue at around 20:35 - just time to buy a drink and pick a spot... |

I'm 5 feet 1 and a half inches tall and always had to collect my tickets at the box office at the beginning of each night (they wouldn't mail them to me or let me collect them all at once). My combined height issue and the inevitable delay caused by having to collect tickets when the doors opened meant I was generally there around four. I was always near the stage so I'm not complaining... you gotta do what you've gotta do.
Sorry this thread's about Golden Tickets and I'm blabbing on about my queueing habits and my vertically challenged nature.
Just look at that queue!!
Stay in line, no skipping!! _________________

During one of the later gigs, I was standing very near the front at stage-left and there was a very pretty vertically challenged girl standing in front of me and the security guard offered to let her sit right at the front with the photographers - and she refused! |

This me seem a bizarre question...(though thats never worried me before...lol)..
How many people at all 21 shows NEVER met any of the others???
(In fact is there anyone who went to the shows alone..didn't talk to anyone else and went home alone afterwards, without bathing in the afterglow of shared experience...because reading a few threads it certainly looks like there were at least two.????) |

Presumably, I wasn't pretty enough to get the offer.
MarkRae wrote: | and she refused! |
I think I would have refused as well, assuming I had a good view where I was, that is. I'd feel like a plonker sitting there and it would be harder to get into it separated from everyone and having to sit down. Still, it's obviously something I don't have to worry about as I don't get those offers.
About people going to and from the gigs alone. It sounds a bit grim I suppose but we've probably all done it one time or another and, to be honest, I've always found it quite pleasant. Besides if those people are on the boards here then they do get the chance to rabbit on about how great it was just like the rest of us. They've just avoided boozing it up with a load of strangers, which admittedly can be fun... strangers are friends you haven't met yet and all that... but if you're like me chances are you'll get pissed and make a twat of yourself, thereby sullying the experience.
Having said that I did manage to display enough social graces to befriend a couple of really nice folks. There's was definitely a clannish mentality going on with some people there though who I tried to talk to but they'd just give me clipped answers and turn back to their mates. Well, they're the ups and downs of socialising I suppose. Still, as I say, I do see a certain attraction to just coming and going to the gigs minus the social aspect... It keeps the experience kind of pure... a bit like going to an orgy and not having to talk to anyone afterwards. _________________

ha.
I know some people had to rush off after the shows because they had trains to catch, work to get back to, not everyone was able to hang round. Kinda jealous of the people who were able to take a month off and stay down there. |

i got offered because i had the pass to sit down the front anyway - i left my jumper and bag there but wanted to stand in the audience. nothing to do with my astounding good looks i'm afraid..
i sat down for lil'beethoven and as good as the gig was i felt a bit left out of everything - i'd rather be in the audience, have a slightly obstructed view, and be able to sing my lungs out. _________________ medic! medic! medic! medic! |

i was thinking - you were probably the person travelling down on a regular basis for every show from the furthest distance. _________________ medic! medic! medic! medic! |

Yeah, that's no way enjoy a concert in that photographers' pit.
You must be the Brick Lane exhibition woman, yes? I'm adding it up, small, good looking and a pass to sit down in front. See my Sherlock Holmes genius?!
Well done again on the great exhibition. You deserve to sit ON stage for all the excellent work :) _________________

I wonder if I was the incredibly fortunate attendee who had to travel the least distance...? 3.5 miles door to door, according to MapPoint... |
