Surprisingly sunny here today, and not cold at all.
It's the end of October and heating is still not on (last year we turned it on around mid-November). Not a good sign regarding climate change, but I have to say I'm glad about my energy bills. |

If I’d had my kilt on it would’ve been ok but can’t be walking about in a soaking wet sports jacket and joggers, not a look I can carry off with any degree of aplomb |

Trick-or-treating's winding down here; while local kids are probably happy not to have to cover their costumes with winter coats, 19 C on Halloween evening just doesn't seem proper. |

How are you coping with the very cold weather. I got a electric heater on in one room, to keep the heating bills down. |

i put my central heating on for 15 mins every now and then when its cold like today and i have small rooms that keep the heat in so it seems to work out well.i do have a sleeping bag i climb into as its only me and its actually very warm and cosy. _________________ WRITTEN OF COURSE BY THE MIGHTIEST HAND |

And in New England, we are praying that the promised rain actually arrives tomorrow. Everything is like tinder here. When I imagine November, I think of rainy, depressing days, but all we've had for about two months is sun and more sun. _________________ better drop the requirement that everything be great |

Everyone should put their heating on in every room regularly, even a couple of times in Summer. This stops sludge forming in the pipes and radiators and ensures your pump doesn’t seize up.
Sludge is identified when the top of your radiator is hot but the bottom is cold. There is a cheap home solution which is effective ( not always but a fairly high success rate), otherwise you may have to pay for a power flush. |

good advice alex mate i had the same advice from a heating technician who said the same thing many years ago and ive always popped the heating on even in the summer just to flush the system and get the flow going (avoiding sludge) _________________ WRITTEN OF COURSE BY THE MIGHTIEST HAND |

i did roofing for quite a while here aussie and the cold on some freezing cold days in the winter left my face and fingers numb at the same time loading a roof with 6 heavy tiles on my shoulder up and down a ladder (no lifts for us) made me think i was crazy..hard work but working with just my mate was ok. _________________ WRITTEN OF COURSE BY THE MIGHTIEST HAND |

I put the central heating on 2 hours in the morning just to make sure there no problem. And the electric heater on in the evening for four hours. But with this very cold weather electric heater on during the day, just in one room only. |

We’ve got Storm Bert hitting us just now, this part of the country is only getting high winds and rain( not yet torrential)…some parts of the country are getting it tight though! |
