Sparks tweeted a very strange tweet this morning on the former Twitter. https://x.com/sparksofficial/status/1839545627031556312?s=46&t=AGPaTDrJ5VBbxGawYUF0Ag

No one knows what it means. [/quote]

Super excited to hear this, and the boxed set looks nice, but I'd rather not spend $100 (US) on the vinyl set if it's going to be available digitally -- would much rather buy it on Apple Music for whatever they want to charge for it. I know it says "only on vinyl," but I would guess/hope that means "only on vinyl FOR NOW." Hmmm.

My "Big Sparks wish" has been granted!!! Finally, we'll get a proper version of Annette performed by real (and talented!) musicians only. This is great news, exactly what I needed.

😂..... My "Big Sparks Wish" would be if l could buy it on CD or on vinyl from my neighbourhood record shop..... Hopefully it will emerge at a later date on CD, maybe in time for Christmas!
This has made me want to watch the film again......

I am on a trip with limited Internet access, so it was hours before I saw the Fan Club/Mailing List announcement about the vinyl.

Yes, the news seemed to be very slow arriving via the Sparks mailing list....... And for some reason it was posted on Twitter(or whatever it's called now) but not on FB or Instagram, although it may well be there now...... I don't do social media and my Internet is very limited so it was a fluke that l came across this information before l got the email......

All that aside, for a moment l thought they were releasing a single called "Perambulator" as a follow up to "Escalator..... 😂

I'm not buying this release. One extra expensive repackaging of old stuff a year is enough. Just release it on a couple of CD's at normal retail price

Building on what you said...

Bob Dylan just released a 27-CD boxed set of his 1974 tour on September 20th, 2024. The package features 417 previously unreleased tracks including 133 recordings newly mixed from 16-Track Tape. The price at Amazon is $125.

On the flip side...see the upcoming re-release by Queen of their first album at $200 that includes vinyl and 6 cds.

Both releases are for completists only but the price disparity is interesting.

Very good, you two! At first I thought they had scrapped Ex Crucior and were making a musical of Rosemary’s Baby.

It was an instant purchase for me...
It may be that something in the Annette licensing means they can only release this on vinyl, and not digitally. Time will tell, if a cd release appears.

For me it was an instant purchase as well.
Finally the album as it was meant to be.
A real new Sparks album, that fills the gap between "The Seduciton" and "FFS".
It always surprises me that there are more fans with positive reactions on the release of a new t-shirt or other merchandise than on new (previously unreleased) music.

I also totally agree with Auke ... it is strange that many people here
are more interested in this fan stuff than Sparks Music

I wonder if the tracks differ from these on the Anette album
mentioned as "demo"
So is this a sort of "demo" album... ?

I absolutely welcome the release and would buy it on a normal price CD in an instant. It's the packaging it up with a poster (and libretto, whatever that is) and charging a huge premium that irks. Coming only a few months after the Noel release it feels a tad exploitative to me

It was an instant purchase for me too.

I remember at the time of the release of the film / Cannes edition, I think Russell mentioned the original 2013 recordings and how Leos Carax was keen they also released these.

When the great Unlimited edition of the soundtrack came out, I remember posting somewhere that it means we'll get a third album of the original recordings. Three years later ... boom!

Really hope a CD/digital release will follow, as my record player ain't great...
