I was there last night, too. Fantastic show (though at 85 minutes including encores way too short), Russell's voice in top form and a great audience, very enthusiastic towards the end! I recorded a few videos, they're up on YouTube:

Very impressive quality of photography, Catweazle, it looks like their next DVD!

And Russell's voice is astounding, and Ron's musical accompaniment every bit as brilliant as recalled from the preview show. Surely there can be no-one here left who isn't inspired to come along to a show.

Wow, those videos... just wow. I am collecting all the videos to one playlist on youtube according to the setlist and there were some that haven't yet been recorded in this tour. Thank you so much for the brilliant quality - you did an amazing job!!!

Many many thanks Raoul, Auke and Sigita for your nice comments - that makes it all worth while!
(It really can get a bit frustrating to upload something on YT you put some effort into and to receive either no comment at all or some rude guy complaining "why haven't you got any more" etc. But obviously Sparks fans are different - so thanks again!!)

Great gig last night in Gent, with Ron taking his shirt of during the encores :D

Bought the 10" 2H1M single plus the limited edition Bergman CD. Anyone already been able to record the 10"?

i copied to pc yesterday, and love both tracks, 10 inch is a great sparks product, but imo, picture discs always had a slight background noise, so it would be great if they release this also on mp3 from amazon for example.....

Watching the clips above confirms that Russell is in top form right now. Old songs sounded extremely fresh as he injected mid-register crooning and then nailed the high notes with amazing power. I hope they manage to capture some of that spirit on the next release. I´ve been out of the Sparks loop a bit, but after the concert I´m excited again.

Hi. New here and looking forward to what will be my first Sparks show tomorrow night in Manchester. This might seem like a really dumb question, but this really is my first time, not being a regular concert goer, but what time do you reckon we should show up to be sure of a good spot? Also, which side of the stage do you reckon is best. I'm tempted towards the Ron side for the comedy glares but equally tempted towards the Russell side for straightforward showmanship.

I saw Sparks last night in Helsinki, my fifth Sparks concert and quite possibly the best so far. Didn´t really know what to expect, but figured no backing band equals stripped down songs knowing Ron´s usual minimalist way of playing.

Surprise, surprise, Ron had a massive sound, the kind of woody piano of Li´l Beethoven layered with strings and This Town-style slapback echo ping-ponging between the speakers. He played like I´ve never heard him play before, fully fleshed out fierce accompaniment with some killer low-end rumble.

Russell was amazing. He pretty much nailed every high note, even the ones where he would usually be straining a bit."This town.." was so close to the original version, both in pitch and timbre, it was scary. With fewer instruments in the mix, Russell took more liberties and varied his voice a lot more than usual. His attempts at speaking Finnish were much appreciated by the crowd.

The new song "Two Hands, One Mouth" was excellent, although hearing it on repeat a dozen times before R&R came on stage was a bit much. Then again, when they closed the concert with the song, everybody knew it.

Beat The Clock and TN1SIH employed sequenced synth backing and sounded a bit out of place. I could have done without the former and would have preferred a more lush, "played" version of the latter. The place was packed and Sparks got a great reception from the audience.

Cheers, Fred Ekelund

A full house in Manchester. A brilliant reception, applause that went on and on. A performance that defied nature yet again. We are truly in the presence of genius.

we returned form Edinburgh yesterday (arrived on friday),
a beautyful city, a great venue and a huge audiance
( well compared to Francfort)

and Ron said with the final applause:

there will be a (Sparks) future!
