Just got round to reading the article (thanks for this post, rwable, and that on Russell's voice). There's a long interview with Russell on the WFMU [radio station mentioned] website culminating in most of Seduction... being played. It's the first Sparks interview I've heard to be interrupted by a dog. See -

The projection images(that I've seen)...make this look like a definite "Must See!".....oh I'd love to be able to get to LA for it! |

From "Backstage" website
"Some of the one-of-a kind programming includes the Filmmaker Retreat, poolside chats, coffee talks, outdoor screenings, and short films from high school students. One of the most talked-about events is the live theatrical production of "The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman" at the Ford Amphitheatre. "This is an event that will never be duplicated again," Ansen says. Los Angeles band Sparks will present its musical while filmmaker Guy Maddin records and directs the feature film version in front of the audience. "It's going to be a very special evening," says Ansen. " |

Well, if they've gone to the trouble of staging and rehearsing it for the LA Film Festival, they could probably put it on at any film festival eg. the London Film Festival. They could even do it at the Edinburgh Festival. _________________ Gonna hang myself from my family tree. |

I'll be there, so I'll report back afterwards. Anyone else going along? _________________ "You have got to be prepared these days. That's why I go to bed early. I am rehearsing for death." - Tom Baker (ahhhhhh!) |

Just got back home. It was pretty ace actually. All star cast with Katie Puckrick and some other people whose names will occur to me later. Great performances from Ron as the Taxi Driver (singing!) and Russell as the movie production company executive, and Peter Franzen as Bergman.
Also picked up one of the lovely limited CDs of the album, which I shall be enjoying as soon as I can get the DVD that's currently stuck in my computer out... ;) _________________ "You have got to be prepared these days. Wow, thanks for posting such an impressive number of snaps, Miss Fierce! They've taken me through the whole musical, it feels. From what I can see, the atmosphere must've been amazing too! |
