I've been browsing this Forum for a couple of weeks now, and though I can't quite put my finger on it, there seems to be a certain dismissive attitude towards some '80's Sparks records, especially 'Music That You Can Dance To'.
Then again, that might be just my imiganation, so here's my question:

I love Music That You Can Dance Too...especially Lets Get Funky...for a long time it I thought I was the only one....but the more Sparks' fans I meet...the more I realise there are thousands of closet MTYCDT fans.....lol |

Its most commonly available under the title ''The Best of Sparks'' for some bizarre reason, the tracklist is the same as the US release with Change on it, over here we got Armies Of The Night in its place but it was a slightly different version so that was a nice touch. If youre round Oxford Street often get someone to direct you to Berwick Street where you'll find a whole heap of record shops, Ive seen the CD in a couple of those for just 3.99. Would be nice if this got a re-release in the seemingly abandoned remaster series and included both Armies Of The Night and Change.
As for my view on the album, I think its a cracker! Fave tracks are Music That You Can Dance To, Change, Lets Get Funky and the great new version of Modesty Plays, one of my fave Sparks songs, actually I love all the tracks on the album except Fingertips, never been able to get on with that one. |

Well, I like the album because it's quite over and beyond the edge. Very harsh and sterile synthesisers (do I spell this right); like it's some ultimate end-of-'80's record. When you play this loud in a club......it's bound to cost everybody their hearing.
p.s. I realise now I should have included 'don't know it' as a fourth option. It took me 4 years to hear the album so it's reasonable to assume other fans don't know it........sorry, my mistake _________________ 'I wish that I, I wish that I, were one of you' |
