Well, I wrote to the American distributor and got this rather obsequious response.

"Hello,
Thank you for your email.

Sincere apologies for the delay in getting your order out to you.

Your order is currently on hold as unfortunately we are awaiting stock. As soon as we receive the stock into our warehouse we will be sending out your order. You will receive a confirmation email once your item has been dispatched. We are truly sorry for the extended delay in dispatching your order and want to thank you for your extended patience while we sort this.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused! If you would like to cancel your order, please return via return of this email and we can sort that out for you.

Kindest regards,
Customer Service Team"

I mean, that was nice and all, but it gives me no idea when Annette is going to arrive.

Oh that's very disheartening, particularly as you had to contact them for any information..... I don't understand why they would still be "awaiting stock" but l daresay there's some reason. But keeping you hanging about without a delivery date is more than frustrating...

I'll try not to spoil things for those who haven't received the boxset yet, but there's two things about it worth mentioning. First, the singing is top notch - I guess with Russell and Rebecca Sjöwall involved it couldn't be anything other - and thus is better than the film soundtrack. Secondly, there's a great deal of fun to be had in seeing what was added in the film version. See what you think when you hear the demos, but what struck me most is that the recycled Sparks tunes don't appear in the original version.

Actually, there's a third noteworthy point - it's an attractive package, and Galen Johnson's artwork deserves a particular mention.

is there a difference to the tracks of the "unlimited" versions that were shown as Sparks demos?
Do you think it is better just because of Russell`s singing, or
do you think the music is also more "unadulterated"?

and yes, the artwork is superb!

"We love each other so much" is the same version, "You used to laugh" is a longer different edited version.

I really hope we'll get it online or on CD someday, it's very frustrating not being able to enjoy it.

I ordered this from the US distributor the day it was announced. I know one person in Missouri who received it two days ago. I wrote to the distributor again asking what was going on and received this answer today:

"Thank you for your email.

We are definitely getting more, we've got the units on order and they are due in any day now. Sincere apologies again for the delay, keep an eye on your inbox for a dispatch email soon.

Kind regards,
Maddy, on behalf of the customer service team."

I am just wondering how many copies they got if someone who immediately ordered it is waiting for a back order. Grrr.

[Edit: I think that I'm choosing to freak out about this in order to avoid completely freaking out about the election.]

I really hope people who ordered these albums have received them now.... The 2013 version of Annette is just wonderful.. I was really impressed by the tone and the edge in Russell's voice on some of the songs..... I found it wonderfully dark!

I can't wait to read your reviews here... I didn't order it (don't have any turntable and not planning on acquiring one either), and I feel so frustrated we didn't get it on CD or online. Hope they'll consider it soon, in the meantime I'll delight in reading your reviews here, so please share your thoughts here! :)

I'm finding it quite hard to write a review of this set because on first hearing (and much to my surprise as a hardened old doll) l found it quite emotional..... Maybe l wasn't expecting it to sound so "finished". But l think it is quite beautiful.
I enjoyed the film very much but maybe l'm finding this more affecting because without any visuals the hearing experience is more intimate, and strangely enough the less dramatic delivery, particularly Ron's part, leaves more room for the listeners feelings.....

I'm not explaining it very well which is why l can't really write an objective review and also because l'm a very sad person, l am saving the 3rd album until the weekend because l don't really want it to be over!! 😂

Mine arrived today ... along with the amazing mug and tea towel. (It was the tea towel that held things up so long, apparently).

Beautiful artwork all round.

I bought the album boxset purely as a collectors' item, as I wouldn't trust my old '70s record player (inherited from my Dad) not to wreck the vinyl.

So: very much hoping for a CD and/or digital follow up release.

I don't blame you Brightonian for keeping it in pristine condition but it's worth buying a record player for...... Could you not put that on your Christmas list? 😂
(mind you a CD issue would be great)

Wasn't there a gap between when the Seduction of Ingmar Bergman was first released as a box set and the standalone CD release?
