i agree alex that russell should have got some hall of fame or something like this for the 21/21 event,no other singer could do it.
ps,i actually got into sparks after picking up the 7 inch single that my sister owned of something for the girl with everything and playing it,then realised it was the same group that did` this town` and here we are in 2009 seeing them do stuff like` dick around` and `lighten up`, amazing group.

But the best voice ever belonged to Freddie Mercury. |

Sorry, but whether you like Queen's music or not, it CAN'T be denied that Sir Mercury had a PHENOMENAL range. And not just range but power as well, 'The Show Must Go On' has an absolutely stunning vocal performance despite the fact he was suffering heavily from the Aids virus at the time. That, to me, is inspirational. |

If you listen to Freddie's voice in a live context-it was past its best by around 1980.Around 1973-78 it was brilliant.I suppose this was due to extensive touring and extensive lifestyle-cigs etc.His courage towards the end of his short life was inspirational.I am dismayed that the man with the rug is currently singing Freddie's songs.I could not bring myself to watch this incarnation of Queen.Roger Taylor is carrying plenty of extra timber these days.Healthy eating Rog... |

Ever since I really got into Sparks, nothing else will do.
Before that I was very partial to the serenade of Karen Carpenter. (She honestly had the voice of an angel with absolutely incomparable talent.)
And then came Russell.
I haven't been the same, since, with my musical taste. Not only is he completely adorable, I don't think I could ever pull off falsetto the way he does (and I've got a high pitched voice when I'm speaking, let alone .. singing..).
One of my favourite songs of theirs I feel rather perfectly showcases his talents: "Without Using Hands". You can hear his pout. And you just kind of want to kiss his face off.
Alright, I'm done.
Hahah.
But yeah, Russell is like none other. Number one in my book. :) _________________ Last.fm.

Better watch out for some young lad off "Britain's Got Talent"....only heard a clip...but he has some range!
Don't know how he'd fare in the lower ranges though!!! |
